AFS-Vorstand Marcel Krause erklärt in einem Gastbeitrag für das Magazin „AufRuhr“ der Stiftung Mercator zum 75. Jahrestag der Befreiung, warum interkultureller Austausch jetzt besonders wichtig ist.

Im Gastbeitrag erklärt AFS-Vorstand Marcel Krause, warum der 8. Mai uns an die Wurzeln unserer Jugendaustauschorganisation erinnert und gleichermaßen für die Zukunft mahnt. „Die Opfer von Holocaust und Krieg drängen uns, unsere Mission auch unter schwierigen Bedingungen fortzuführen“, schreibt Krause in seinem Beitrag.

Und weiter: „Während der 8. Mai als Tag der Befreiung in den Ländern der Alliierten mitunter zum Feiern Anlass gibt, ist er für uns hier in Deutschland mehr ein stiller Tag des Gedenkens an die Opfer des Krieges, der Vertreibung und Vernichtung durch die Nationalsozialisten.“
